Epsilon Italia S.r.l. is an independent SME, founded in 1996 in Mendicino (CS), Southern Italy.

The company provides the end users with innovative and technologically advanced solutions in the following fields:

• Geographic Information (GIS, WEBGIS, Spatial Data Infrastructures)
• Satellite Remote Sensing (marine and terrestrial applications)
• Planning and Society (territorial planning, sustainable development, SEA – Strategic Environmental Assessment, civil protection)
• Satellite Telecommunication (on-board and ground segments)

The company provides technical support and vocational training to Local Public Administrations and to private entities.

Thanks to the well established technical experience of its human resources, Epsilon Italia is actively involved in Research & Development activities, carried out either on its own or in partnership with national and international Universities and Research Centres (FP4, FP5, fP7, eContent, ICT-PSP, DG-ENV).

Epsilon Italia applies the Geographic Information standards (OGC, ISO/TC 211, CEN/TC 287) and uses proprietary and open source software platforms to:

• Design, realize and update GIS (Geographic Information System) for the territorial control, the environmental monitoring and the management of natural and anthropogenic resources
• Customize GIS developing custom commands/toolbars and integrating even complex workflows
• Develop WEBGIS applications
• Develop SDI (Spatial Data Infrastructures) compliant to the INSPIRE Directive

Epsilon Italia uses remotely sensed data obtained from scientific and commercial satellite sensors to:

• Develop remote sensing applications for the territory control, the environmental monitoring and the management of natural and anthropogenic resources
• Process remotely sensed optical multi and hyper spectral and radar data, at different spatial resolution
• Calibrate models and develop algorithms to assess geo-bio-physical parameters

For territorial planning Epsilon Italia provides consultancy and technical support to:

• Draw up plans, programs and projects for territorial development
• Develop mathematical models for the quantitative assessment of sustainability in several application scenarios
• Perform studies and benchmarking analyses between different territorial entities, based on their sustainability performance
• Perform studies and analyses to measure the effectiveness of the territorial policies and their implementing strategies
• Perform Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of plans and programs in all the fields covered by the Directive 42/2001/CE and its national and regional transpositions.
• Carry out civil protection actions for the prevention and management of natural and anthropogenic risks.
